This summer Strelka launches a new series of workshops aimed at a practical change in the city microrayons. Each workshop will take the participants to one of Moscow’s microrayons, with the support of local authorities. They will design an intervention for the location – temporary or permanent environmental structures, a media-project or a city happening.

Aims:

– create an intervention that would promote a durable change for the better in a number of Moscow’s microrayons;

– give a practical experience and understanding of how projects can be designed and maintained in close cooperation with local authorities and community.

How the workshops work:

Experts from world’s architectural, media and design schools, who have successfully realized their own city projects and have a practical teaching experience, will lead the workshops. Russian experts will be invited to assist and guide them in terms of local specifics.

The workshops are open for everyone with strong interest in urban development and urban communities. All applicants will need to sign up on the page of the chosen workshop and fill in a short application form.

Depending on the issue the workshop addresses, it will result in a physical object, a city intervention, a city holiday or a media project.

The participants will be working closely with the local community, who will help to enunciate the task for the workshop, work on design and creation of the product and assist with the final intervention in the microrayon.

8 workshops will run from July till early September and take place in 8 different microrayons. The first worshop led by Michiel de Lange from The Mobile City will be   set in Yuzhoye Medvedkovo. The locations for the other workshops will be confirmed shortly and appear here.
