Project: Boundaries of Public Space in Moscow (2011)

research theme: Public Space
Directors: Michael Schindhelm, Yuri Grigoryan

Architect Sergei Shoshin is from Zagorsk. He studied in the Public Space research theme with Michael Schindhelm and Yuri Grigoryan, and investigated the boundaries of public space in Moscow. Sergei found that only about one-third of the territory of Moscow has been officially surveyed since the process was started a decade ago, meaning that two-thirds of the city’s land still does not have clearly defined boundaries or proprietors. He also looked at the increasing protest against the illegal reclaiming of public land. Sergey is a freelance architect and is now working on a series of projects for the architectural office Project Meganom.
