Beat Film Festival: THE 80′S MANCHESTER NIGHT

Commissioned and produced by Manchester International Festival, “A-Z of Manchester” offers visual anthology of Manchester music scene starting from the 1980s until 2000s, covering the whole alphabet alongside visuals mixed live from the curated collection of legendary local photographer Kevin Cummins

In Moscow the Beat Film Festival together with MIF presents The 80-ies Manchester Night as part of MIF on Tour. The 80-s Manchester Night is dedicated to the sound of Manchester of the 80-s – the time when Joy Division became New Order, iconic La Hacienda club opened its doors to the public, The Smiths’ first record was out, Factory Records’ fame was resounding all over the country. DJ of the night is the British DJ Mike Pickering, one of the first La Hacienda residents, the one who truly knows 1980s first hand: he signed Happy Mondays among others while working for Factory Records, and also starred in the film “24-Hour Party People.”
