In the modern world machines and innovative technologies are something more than simple tools. Speaking objectively, a computer is the universal weapon – a machine created to guide missiles and break codes that was only later adapted to everyday use.

This change of function in computers led to two contradictory problems. On one hand, computers as completely new instruments are undervalued. Yet at the same time they are, on the contrary, overrated. Programmer and designer Vadim Smakhtin described how modern computer-related thinking works, and how cultural and social shifts flowing from computer-focussed ideology have appeared.

Vadim Smakhtin is one of the founders of the Mathrioshka creative community. His main research interest is integrating parametric technologies as a universal means of communication within teams as part of the design process.
