Building a Green Campus

Across Europe and North America, universities are increasingly embracing the notion of a “green campus”. Harvard, the London School of Economics, and Oxford are just three prominent institutions to have launched environmentally friendly policies in recent years. But in Russian universities environmental initiatives – from separate rubbish collection to introducing environmental education programs – are yet to take root.

The goal of this workshop was to launch and run environmental projects in higher education establishments in Moscow and Russia. Students, graduates, and university staff shared their experience and expertise, studied the best international practice, and together prepared a plan for “Green Week” in several colleges this Autumn.

The workshop was organized with the support of The Center for the bioeconomy and eco-innovations of the Faculty of Economics of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
