Part of: Concerts at Strelka

A year ago, Motorama was playing the popular indifferent post-punk on the motifs of Joy Division and Interpol, replete with English lyrics; a few weeks ago, they released their debut album on their site.

The new songs on this album are livelier at points, as the Rostan-based group has saturated the sound with electronica, freshened up the arrangements and just generally taken a big step towards dance-pop, with clear Scandinavian roots. There are immediately two big pluses to these changes. On the one hand, Motorama has finally shaken off the tag «the Rostan Joy Division», while on the other, the group’s music has become much more danceable. The experiments with gloomy post-punk have disappeared, while the list of new influences has expanded to include light Swedish electronica such as Tough Alliance and The Embassy.

Come witness these changes for yourself at the presentation of the debut album, as part of the Summer at Strelka program. Just a head’s up: there will be dancing.
