Should buildings adapt to the surrounding environment? How can this be accomplished? Intelligent structures that use special materials and designs rather than moving parts and central computers to adjust to local environmental conditions are currently very popular.

Workshop participants will learn about how architects use energy (heat, moisture, and static electricity), rather than data, to create responsive structures.

Method:

Participants will use solid modeling and bimetals to create blueprints and prototypes of responsive structures. They will also learn about environmental engineering by analyzing the final two case studies in this article.

This workshop is aimed at architects, as well as engineers, designers and builders who want to change the way they think about materials, construction and environmental engineering.

Moderators: Eduard Haiman, Roman Khazeyev, Filipp Katz, Maxim Malein, Darya Kovalyova
