The partnership between the Praktika Theater and Strelka continues this summer, with the theater staging two premieres at Strelka: the play in verse «Stikhi pro Moskvu» («Poems About Moscow») and the verbatim play «Babushki» («Old Women»).

«Babushki» is a play composed of stories from real village residents taken from the book «A Russian Village in the Stories of Its Residents» and edited by Russian language scholar Leonid Kasatkin. The play is performed in the style of verbatim theatre: A journalist from the big city does interviews with people who reside in the countryside. The old women are played by young female actors, all graduates of Oleg Kudryashova’s GITIS acting studio.

Screenplay and staging by Svetlana Zemlyakova
