Strelka Press, as you know, publishes in English and Russian. And now we have four new Russian titles to add to our list. Our aim is to both promote English-language authors by making them accessible to a Russian audience, and to make Russian texts available in English. For the moment, the most recent Russian-language titles remain untranslated. However, with this bilingual objective in mind, we thought we would at least provide an edited translation of some of the blog posts that appeared recently on our Russian-language blog, as a means of introducing the authors, their work, and making the scope of Strelka Press more transparent.

Pierre Laconte, President of Foundation for the Urban Environment, Past-president of ISOCARP and Honorary Secretary General of International Association of Public Transport (Belgium) was invited to speak at Moscow Urban Forum. An interview with him was taken by Strelka prior to his arrival in Moscow and posted to Forum’s social networks. In the full version of the interview he speaks about Moscow Metro development plan and compares Moscow transport strategy to international examples of Beijing, Zurich, Paris and Shanghai.

International competition of Architectural Concepts for the Museum and Educational Centre of the Polytechnic Museum and Moscow State Lomonosov University is part of the project for Polytechnic Museum modernization started in 2010. Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design is the competition consultant.

Filmmaker Gary Hustwit has come to Moscow to give a lecture on crowdfunding at the Polytechnic Museum and present “Urbanized”, the third part of his “Design Trilogy” made with funding collected at Kickstarter. In his interview for Strelka blog he talks about the future of crowdfunding, participatory design and the challenge for designers to make it easy for people to get involved.

Several months ago Strelka Press launched its first seven titles on iBooks, the Apple bookstore service. This was an expansion from the Amazon platform, where our publications have been available since May. This now means that Strelka Press is a truly cross-platform publishing house, accessible on a vast range of e-reading devices (including the iPad, iPhone, Kindle, and others).
