Strelka’s Summer Programme will kick off on May 23 with a lecture by Scott Nazarian, the creative director of frog’s Seattle studio. Two days later, on May 25, a party will be held to celebrate the beginning of the summer, with the British musician and DJ Matthew Herbert performing.

Matthew Herbert and a band comprised of students of the Moscow Conservatory and The Russian Gnesins Academy of Music will unveil a musical project that will represent Russia at the London 2012 Festival.

In July, a week prior to the start of the London Olympics, BT River of Music, a weekend of music from across the 205 Olympic and Paralympic nations will take place in London. The British Council has offered Matthew Herbert to represent Russia at the festival.

Herbert, known for his love of real life sounds, used voices of babies and elderly Russians, as well as echoes and sounds eavesdropped in pavilions of the All-Russia Exhibition Centre VDNKh, the Russian State Library, the Polytechnic Museum, the Moscow Conservatory and other places. In addition to these, the performance will feature an excerpt from one of the books by Victor Pelevin.

To come to the event, one had to register here. The first 100 people to register each received a ticket for two. The registation is now closed.

The British Council Russia is the official partner of the event.
