The Invisible at Strelka

Part of: Concerts at Strelka

As part of the programme «Summer at Strelka», the Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design and the British Council present a concert by the London-based band The Invisible.

On 10th June 2010 at 8:00 pm, the Strelka courtyard will host a concert by The Invisible; nominees for the Mercury Prize, a prestigious musical award for the best album from Great Britain and Ireland. With this performance by the group, whose style could be described as experimental multi-genre cosmic pop, Strelka opens up a season of summer concerts under the open sky.

The Invisible consists of guitarist and singer Dave Okumu, drummer Leo Taylor and bassist Tom Herbert. Okumu and Herbert are members of the touring band for Matthew Herbert. These musicians have also contributed to the studio recordings of Amy Winehouse and Roisin Murphy. They have collaborated with Hot Chip and Acoustic Ladyland. Tom Herbert also plays in the neo-jazz ensemble Polar Bear.

British music critics – NME, Q, BBC, The Wire – named The Invisible’s debut album as one of the strongest of the year and compared their experimental tracks to those of musicians ranging from Prince to Sonic Youth.
